Valentine's Day Celebrations Opposed by Kashmir Woman Group

Srinagar, Feb 4: The woman separatist group of Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (women of nation) opposes Valentine Day celebrations and has asked the hoteliers in Kashmir not to host any function on February 14.

In a statement issued here, Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson, Asiya Andrabi said that the Valentine Day celebrations are against the culture and region. "Its celebration is anti-Islamic and we are opposed to any such celebrations," she said.

The chairperson of the Dukhartan-e-Millat asked the hotel and restaurant owners in Kashmir not to host any party on February 14.

In the past, the Dukhtaran-e-Millat activists have opposed the Valentine Day celebration and 'seized' cards from stationery shops. They have also raided hotels and beaten couples celebrating the Valentine Day.
